“The Weekly Riot”

Shot Heard Round the World

Abraham Lincoln once observed that “If by the mere force of numbers a majority should deprive a minority of any clearly written constitutional right, it might, in a moral point of view, justify revolution.” Old honest Abe may as well have been writing about contemporary politics because this week members of the Texas State Government vehemently agreed. On the eve of what many believed would be the nation’s largest Tea Party Protest in San Antonio, Texas, Governor Rick Perry and dozens of members of the Texas State Congress strolled to the microphone in the state’s capitol building with a mandate. “Texans are tired of people from D.C. coming down here and trying to tell us how to run Texas.” Proclaimed Perry, Texas’ only governor since President George W. Bush left that office to be the president in January of 2000.

The internet and talk radio airwaves immediately burst into flames as a resounding hurrah permeated from an already simmering American public. As the patriots at Concord fired the shot heard round the world so many years ago, so too did the bold and audacious members of the Texas State government equally light the world aflame. As details of an incredibly brazen Department of Homeland Security memo circulated in the mainstream press about the rise of “Rightwing extremists” and “Dangerous ex-military members” members of the “Dangerous rightwing” general public (A.K.A normal Americans) were readying their bull horns and placards for massive tax day protests in over 50 major cities nationwide.

The sidewalk slab of a Hawaii prep school still bears the childhood inscription of President Barack Obama. “King Obama” the concrete proudly proclaims. The 20th century gave rise to the power of individual liberty. The echoes of the voices of patriots who brazenly shed the yokes of oppressive kings can still be heard today if one only cared to listen. Though I do not believe that President Obama is a bad man who aspires to douse liberty and foster oppression, I do believe that King Obama is a deeply educated man who is so finely assimilated into the academicians culture of parentalism and collectivist ideologies that he would be very willing to sacrifice the many wills of the individual for his own perception of collective utilitarianism. I have a news flash for King Obama, however. Our forefathers mightily purged themselves of the yoke of a king who thought he knew better for everyone than they knew for themselves. This proud tradition sowed a genetic thread of liberty as deeply into many of us as collectivism is indoctrinated into the king himself.

U.S. founding father Thomas Jefferson even went as far as to say that “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” In King Obama’s America the Department of Homeland Security and old maid Napolitano would have tapped the phones at Monticello and planted informants deep within the ranks of the house labor pool. Perhaps we should whisk away the Jeffersonians to Guantanamo Bay where the old inhabitants have been voluntarily relocated to the mean streets of Los Angeles, New York City and all stops in between. The point is that the Texans have now fired the new shot heard round the world. If the President and his parentalist lackey’s really care about their vision of a nanny state and unified globalist government then they truly should fear the voices of those crazy cowboys from the Lone Star State and us blustering old veterans rallying right in behind them.
